ABOUT RICHIE HELGER JR.
Richie Helger Jr. is no stranger to Victory Lane.
In 2022, Richie moved up to the Legends Cars, running full-time at Seekonk Speedway and also select events throughout New England. For 2023, he continued in the Legends Cars and picked up his first career win in August, also running part-time throughout New England with the NELCAR Legends Tour. He also finished third in the Seekonk point standings for the year and made the Championship 4.
During the 2021 season, Helger competed behind the wheel of his Helger's South Coast Power Equipment Bandolero Outlaw at Seekonk Speedway, rocketing to the championship in the 75th year of history at the Massachusetts oval. Along the way, Helger had two victories -- including a crucial win down the stretch -- to win the title. He hoisted the championship in just his second full-time season of racing at one of New England's most historic tracks.
On top of winning the championship at Seekonk, Helger had a heck of a year traveling the Northeast. He also picked up victories at Beech Ridge Motor Speedway, White Mountain Motorsports Park, Star Speedway, Bethel Motor Speedway and Evergreen Speedway. All in all, Helger had 10 wins behind the wheel of the No. 99 Bandolero during the 2021 season and is looking for more in 2022.
After starting his career in the Seekonk Speedway Bandolero Bandit division, Helger went on to contend for the championship during a COVID-shortened 2020 season. He was leading the points heading into the final few weeks, before both mechanical gremlins and racing accidents cost him a shot at the title. He would finish second in the championship battle that year, before moving to the Outlaws, where he earned his championship.
